||Design of AKTEO
AKTEO is the world of Jean-Christophe Mareschal,
the inventor of the thematic concept where prevails imagination, allegory and design. In this site we have had the pleasure to present you the great diversity of the models of the Akteo collection., a unique phenomena in the horology world.
The Akteo watches are exported throughout the world.
They are sold in a selected network of shops and presented in prestigious museums such as the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris, MoMA in New York and San Francisco, the Modern Art Museum in Saitama and Pola Museum of Art in Hakone in Japan.
The success of Akteo near a large audience is undoubtedly due to the scenography which the association of the symbolic miniaturised components constitutes.
Jean-Christophe Mareschal approaches the making of a watch like an author, weaving a visual and conceptual story from an original image springing from his mind's eye.
The image is then reduced in size and reworked, and then the cutting, stamping and colouring tools are developed to a point of perfection to render every detail.
AKTEO uses a universal language of signs and symbols, thereby expressing the thematic concept. The usual components of watch-making - the hands : hour, minute and second, the faces and sometimes crowns - are all diverted from their primary functions and become actors in the scene.
Making the components calls on artistic skills that use exceptional techniques applied to the theme. Each part is built bit by bit by craft masters plying their know-how in terms of cutting, punching, engraving, polishing and colouring - the genuine craft of watch-making artists.
From the original drawing, highly sophisticated objects see the light of day - this is the key to AKTEO's philosophy itself - Art and Technology in total harmony.
